This relatively new addition to the page is not very new to my collection now. I've had it since 2001. It was off the road from 1984 until then (if you look close at the top picture of the car you can see the old NY reg in the window). My buddy went looking for a 1972 parts car. He asked me to come along to look at this car. It was way too good to cut up. Interior was mint. Body was solid, a few garage scrapes/dents, but no suprises. True old lady car. Why she got a Sport we'll never know. She died, a Chevy nut across the street bought it just to make a profit. Well it was worth every penny ($2700), despite the fact that the 351 Cleveland was toast (the top half was in the trunk). Apparantly she ran dry on an oil change gone bad. A back-yard mechanic gave up and she left the thing in her garage all those years. I barely had enough money at the time to buy her, buy the aftermarket Mag 500s, tires, and do the motor swap. What went in her? The 302 from my Fairlane 500 (see below - may she Rest In Peace)! Talk about recycling! :) From 2001 to August 2003 I drove it around with the 302. Well the C4 on her gave out (a few days before a planned drive to the 2003 FCA Nationals). So now she is getting a newly rebuilt 460 and C6 from a 1972 Lincoln Continental that I bought on ebay just for the upgrades. Running the 302 she was driven to the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals in 2002 and 2003.
1969 Mercury Cyclone
351 c.i. "Windsor" small block FMX transmission red interior Assembled in Lorain, Ohio
This body style was available from 1968 thru 1969 just like its Ford cousins. Look for the subtle differences such as the "teardrop" shaped wheelwells, the non-flush nose, the horizontal orientation of the tailights, entirely different dash, etc. I found this car at a Mercury dealer! It was the owner's car and he decided to get rid of it. It took me months but was able to get him down to $6500. No one else scouped her up in that time if you can believe that! Between 1968 and 1969 there were only about twenty thousand Cyclones made. The non-fastback versions of the car were called Montegos or Comets. In 1968 only a few of the non-fastbacks bore the Cyclone name. All 1969 Cyclones are fastbacks. I took her to the 2001 Carlisle All-Ford Nationals.

390 c.i. FE ("Ford-Edsel") big block C6 Transmission 9inch rear Holley 750 cfm carb and Edelbrock intake manifold Crager rims
Recaro seats black interior Assembled in San Jose, CA
This car was purchased by me over Ebay. Its last home was Nevada! It cost me $900 to have it shipped. I bought it to replace my 1968 Fairlane (see below). She has been to the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals (in 2000).

1968 Ford Fairlane 500 Fairlane Fastback (RIP)
302 c.i. C4 Transmission 8 inch rear black interior
This was my first Ford fastback. I always wanted a 60's musclecar. I had planned to get a 66 or 67 GTO or Tempest, or a 66 Grand Prix. I only had about $2000 to spend though and this car caught my eye. I had alot of good road trips with her even though she never held the road quite right (turns out there was alot of frame rot up front). She took me to Maryland and back no problem to go to a Fairlane Club of America National meet back in 1998. When I moved to CT they would not pass the car and a shop that specializes in heavy-duty Mustang restoration work suggested I make her a parts car. So for about 3 yrs+ she was in semi-retirement in a garage. If I were Bill Gates I would have her fixed up. I always loved the hand-painted racing stripes on her. In 2001 I had the motor pulled to go into my 1972 Gran Torino Sport. In 2003 I essentially had to give up the garage. Somebody was going to take her for free but he stalled and bailed on it last minute, I was forced to junk her. I took some things for myself, mostly interior pieces. At least the motor lived on proudly in my Gran Torino Sport and logged many more miles.
1967 Ford Mustang Notchback (Sold)

200 c.i. Inline Six "Green Dot" Transmission black interior Assembled in Metuchen, NJ.
This was my daily driver (obtained late 2003). Ok its not a fastback. But I figure its in the general spirit of the page. I never pictured myself owning a Mustang but I must say its a fun little car. I was suprised to learn that there were a few Shelby 1967 Notchbacks built for Trans-Am racing. I've been driving it in the wonderful winter we've been having (in 2003 and 2004), lol! Its nice to have an old car to drive despite the weather. :)
1967 Ford Mustang Notchback

89 c.i. small block black deluxe interior
I got this car as a replacement for the other Mustang as it already had disc brakes. Doing a disc brake upgrade is quite costly on a Mustang as you need to switch out from 4 to 5 lug wheels in addition to other stuff that would normally need to be done for such things. As a bonus this car has the aluminum accented deluxe interior and a 289 V8. The 200 inline six in the other car is a pain to upgrade with such quirks as the intake manifold being part of the head. If I had limitless funds maybe I would have entertained such but also the car was in much better overall shape. The next project on this car then is a T5 manual transmission upgrade to convert from away from automatic. It will become the first "stick car" that I've ever owned. The above picture is from 4/30/2006 at the Taylor Farm car show I try to go to every year in East Norwalk, CT.

Founded in 1991, the International Mercury Owners Association (IMOA) was formed for the purpose of offering Mercury owners and collectors (regardless of year or model) the advantages of locating parts for the automobiles, sharing information, the opportunity to locate or sell cars and receive discounts on Mercury parts and related merchandise, and to receive a quarterly publication called Quicksilver. Our goal is to formulate well organized local car shows in addition to an international convention. I am a member of this club as well.
Canadian Falcon Fairlane Comet Club
The CFFCC is head quartered in the Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of 1960 to 1970 Ford Falcons, 1962 to 1970 Ford Fairlanes, and 1960 to 1967 Mercury Comets. Established in 1983, this club conducts monthly meetings, organizes annual events such as our Picnic in the Park and Christmas party, and coordinates club participation in Show'N'Shine events held by other car clubs and charity cruise events. I am not a member of this club. If I ever move to Canada I'll be sure to join though! ;)

I just want to say that dealing with FPA was a great experience. If you want headers for your 68/69 Fairlane or Torino that has an FE engine I would recommend you go here. Forget calling Hooker or anyone else. Back in 2000 when I was looking for headers I called around. These were the only guys who knew what they were talking about. They even told me the proper Hooker part # if I wanted to go with them instead which Hooker couldn't figure out. I of course bought the FPA headers and have been entirely satisfied since.

When I moved to CT and the state would not pass my '68 Fairlane 500 this is where I brought my car. In the end they suggested I buy something else rather than spend the money required on extensive frame fabrication. I stored my car here for months. If I still lived in CT now I probably would have brought my 460 build-out project to them. They seem very knowledgeable and their facilities were impressive.

Looking at this link may make you first say: "Hey thats a 1971 Fairlane (or Torino)!" If you look closely its a post car. These cars were for some odd reason badged as Falcon's by Ford. If you own one you can be in the Falcon Club of America and the Fairlane Club of America with a car that could be shown at either club's events. For some reason I get a kick out of the concept. LOL!
